08 The Valley – The Whiskey Charmers (from the album The Valley)
“The Whiskey Charmers are sending shadows back into the murky swamp as they make a stand on the title track from the recent release, The Valley. The Detroit, Michgan-based band pound out a warning to the hidden menace creeping up “The Valley” on their second album release. – Alternate Root Magazine 4/15/17

Gothic Americana meets a murky, melodic roots vibe with the Whiskey Charmers. The Detroit trio’s songs sound as though they could soundtrack some modern noir film. They’re stung by a bit of the supernatural with a sweetly haunting rattle of reverb and gritty lyrical imagery. If David Lynch ran a juke joint out in the desert, or if Jim Jarmusch were throwing a hootenanny, or if Quentin Tarantino managed a cocktail lounge, the Whiskey Charmers would fit right in. 2 p.m. Saturday, Bud Light Americana Stage
We are happy to announce that our debut self-titled album has been nominated for a Detroit Music Award for Outstanding Americana Recording! Many thanks to Modern Rock review for the great write up of our album!
“The Whiskey Charmers are a Detroit-based duo who strike a perfect balance between laid back country and western and edgy folk rock. With the smoky lead vocals of Carrie Shepard and the stratospheric lead guitar textures of Lawrence Daversa, the self-released and self-titled 2015 album is solid from start to finish.” – Modern Rock Review 2/11/16

THE WHISKEY CHARMERS – THE WHISKEY CHARMERS
“I’m continually charmed by the Charmers, a local duo that mine the darker sides of folk, blues and country twang to unearth a literary-tinged mysticism crossed with a quasi campy, geek sophistication; imagine if murder ballads and ghost stories had a lot of surf-rock reverb. I could imagine their music being on almost any Jim Jarmusch soundtrack.” thewhiskeycharmers.bandcamp.com/releases – Jeff Milo, December 23, 2015
Many thanks to the New York Music Daily for including us on their Best 50 Albums of 2015 list! You can see the full list and links to all of the artists here .
“Seven or eight years ago, everyone was predicting the demise of the album. That hasn’t happened, and as long as we have recording technology, it won’t. A few other predictions from the past decade, however, have come true. Albums these days tend to be shorter, and artists are releasing fewer of them. And as a result, they’re consistently better, since acts are no longer contractually obliged to record labels to churn out product regardless of whether or not they’ve got first-class material ready to go.” – New York Music Daily, December 22, 2015

“Many of the songs have a sound that could easily transcend genres and bring The Whiskey Charmers wider success. “Straight & Narrow” is a delightful song which has a real laid back, Americana feel to it. It’s a similar story with the more upbeat sounding “Can’t Leave”. Songs like “Sidewinder” and “Parlor lights” have a wider landscape feel to them. They’re brooding, dark songs with a more epic feel to them. They have you imagining being in a late night bar, probably drinking away your sorrows.”- The Soul of a Clown, December 4th, 2015
